Preparation:Preheat oven to 300 degree F. |

Crust:In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until creamy. |

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until mixture is light and fluffy. |

Blend in vanilla, almond extract, and pears. |

In a separate bowl, combine flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. |

Mix the contents of both bowls together. |

Stir in chopped almonds. Spread mixture in a well-greased springform pan. |

Pears:Cut the pears in half. Cut the halves on slices to get 8 pieces. |

Set the pear pieces on the cake forming a nice circle. |

Baking:Bake in preheated 300 degree F oven for 70-80 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. |
